Europa-Haus Marienberg was established in 1951 and was the first European educational and social centre. In the interim, it has become headquarters for 128 European Houses in 32 countries. Since 1975, it has been recognized as a public foundation under civil law. Joint sponsors are the Europa-Haus Marienberg e.V. and the State of Rheinland-Palatinate.
A heating system was installed by MB-Partner "Gerhard Buchen GmbH" from Wissen/Sieg in its new structure which opened in 1994. This included not only a condensing boiler system, but 3.500 m² of MB floor heating as well. This decision was well thought out by the Schlossberger Architect Office and was designed to help fulfil the goals of Europa-Haus: in 62 rooms plus seminar and meeting facilities, guests feel comfortable while enjoying studies, exchanging opinions and socializing. Ceramic and glass mosaic were used as finished flooring, complemented by carpeting and finished screed.
Gerhard Buchen GmbH Heating Systems in Wissen is a company whose tradition goes back more than 250 years. Starting out as a blacksmith, the company has developed into a modern engineering operation. Over the past 30 years, it has specialized in floor heating, reverse-cycle heat pumps, solar systems, air conditioning and sanitary requirements, and is well known in the Wissen region and beyond.
