In Birmingham, the first English project was implemented with several schools of the private financing initiative PFI. Ten new schools were built: 3 secondary schools, 4 junior, 2 infant and 1 nursery school all of which were equipped with MULTIBETON floor heating systems.
The floor heating systems were installed by Elequip Projects Ltd. (6 schools) and Dodd Group (4 schools) as sub-contractors of Galliford Try plc, all in co-operation with the English MULTIBETON general licensee.
The idea of partnership is also quite important in England as well. Peter Alvey of Elequip Projects: "At the end of the day, it's all down to relationships. We're not after one-off projects, what we do want is to achieve the right relationships. And that's got to be right for the client and it's also right for us."
For example, Yardley's Secondary School (pictured above) is one of the largest secondary schools in Birmingham with 885 pupils between the ages of 11 and 16. The capacity of the heating system is 444 kW.
In 2001 and 2002, a total of 7.400 m² of MB-screed system was installed.
